# Measurement privacy

> Review capture, diagnostics, retention, and policy history for a measurement subject

Measurement privacy is an additional settings page with no current sidebar entry. Open it using this [direct app link](https://app.etho.net/settings/measurement-privacy).

Owner or Admin access is required to edit a policy. It applies to the selected measurement subject, not every workspace model. Scheduled and ended subjects are read-only.

## Configure a subject

1. Choose **Measurement subject** and check its lifecycle status.
2. Set **First-party measurement** and its purposes: Analytics, Attribution, or Experimentation. Capture needs an enabled policy and the required consent.
3. Choose **Consent behavior**: Deny without policy, Consent required, or First-party only. First-party only needs Analytics or Experimentation.
4. Choose **Privacy classification**: Restricted, Healthcare-capable, or General. These are policy classifications for data handling.

Restricted forces capture off. Non-General classifications use aggregate-only reporting and disable PostHog diagnostics. Healthcare-capable also has **Minimum reported cohort**, with choices of 10, 20, 50, or 100 people.

## Diagnostics and retention

**PostHog diagnostics** is available only for General classification. **Clarity diagnostics** is unavailable.

**Observation retention** offers 30, 90, 180, 395, or 730 days. **Subject-key retention** offers 7, 30, 90, 180, 395, or 730 days. Subject keys cannot be retained longer than observations. Optional diagnostics do not determine whether first-party measurement is ready.

## Save and review history

Select **Save privacy policy** and check the reloaded subject. **Policy history** shows versions, settings, actor, and effective dates. It has no rollback control.
