# Messaging

> Provision Connect messaging lines, manage credits, and set sending windows

Open **Settings > Messaging** to set up the lines used in Connect. Managed lines are separate from a [Twilio integration](/modules/integrations/twilio) used by automations.

## Add a line

Setup requires Owner or Admin access, a paid plan, and messaging enabled for the workspace. It is unavailable during impersonation.

1. Select **Add a line**.
2. Complete **Business**: Legal name, EIN, and Website.
3. Complete **Address**: Street address, City, State, and ZIP. Setup uses a US business address.
4. Complete **Opt-in**: explain how people opt in and supply two to five sample messages, one per line. Include your brand and STOP instructions.
5. Select **Add this line**.

Legal name and EIN must match your business registration. An Under review line cannot send yet. Read any rejection reason before trying again. Fees and activation status appear in the app; approval is not immediate.

## Read line status

| Status | Meaning |
| - | - |
| Under review | The number is not live yet. |
| SMS is live | SMS is available. |
| SMS live, RCS under review | SMS works while RCS review continues. |
| RCS is live | Supported phones receive branded RCS; other devices receive SMS. |
| Paused, Disabled, Released | The line cannot deliver new messages. |

**Request brand-name RCS** is offered once SMS is live. The **iMessage line** add-on is Coming soon.

## Messaging credits

With billing permission and a paid plan, use **Add credits** to choose an offered pack and complete checkout. Credits are charged as messages send. Trial accounts cannot buy credits.

Configure **Auto-recharge**, **Pack**, and **Recharge when below**, then select **Save auto-recharge**. Review the pack and threshold before enabling repeat purchases.

## Quiet hours

Set **Sending window > Start / End** and **Fallback time zone**, then **Save quiet hours**. The default window is 8 AM to 8 PM in the recipient's local time. Business-initiated messages wait for the next allowed window when needed.

The fallback handles phone numbers whose US area code cannot establish a time zone. It is not a workspace-wide time zone. Some recipient locations retain the narrower default window even if you configure a wider one.

## Import message history

Under **Import Messages**, choose **GoHighLevel > Import**. Imported history is read-only; it does not create a replying line. See [GoHighLevel](/modules/integrations/leadconnector) for import controls.
