# Skills

> Create reusable agent instructions and manage whether they load

Skills are reusable instructions for the agent in this workspace. **Settings > Skills** requires Owner or Admin access, including viewing the list.

## Create a skill

1. Select **Add skill**.
2. Drop or select up to five documents, or describe the workflow under **Or say what it should do**. Supported documents include PDF, Word, Excel, Markdown, HTML, and text.
3. Choose a unique **Slash command**, such as `/brand-voice`, or let Olympus generate one.
4. Select **Save skill** to build and save the skill.

**Build with Olympus** starts an agent conversation to develop the workflow; it does not save the skill immediately. A microphone option appears only in supported browsers.

## Edit a skill

Search the list or sort by update date or name. Open **Edit** and review:

| Field | What to enter |
| - | - |
| Name and Description | What the skill does. |
| Layer | principle, model, tactic, nuance, or workflow. |
| Category | A lowercase category identifier. |
| Modules and Channels | Comma-separated supported identifiers; Channels also accepts all. |
| Triggers | Optional comma-separated triggers. |
| Provenance | Source labels, such as a brand guide or founder interview. |
| Instructions | Markdown instructions, up to 12,000 characters. |

Select **Save changes**. Required fields must be complete; Triggers is optional. Leaving an unsaved editor asks whether to discard changes.

## Check whether a skill is applied

**Activate** or **Deactivate** saves immediately. A skill can show Applied, Inactive, Not applied: over budget, or Won't load: unsupported module.

Applied means the skill is eligible within the module's instruction budget. It does not guarantee use in every request. Shorten or deactivate unused skills when the module exceeds its budget, and check module identifiers when a skill cannot load.
